Hey folks, welcome to my blog. I am a 45 year old mother of 2 teenagers. I used to pride myself on what I thought was a ‘healthy’ lifestyle. As I got older, I struggled with weight management (even with regular exercise) so a few years back I started researching and learning about nutrition, and it all finally clicked. I stopped dieting, and truly started to eat healthy.
It’s unfortunate that nutrition is not something we are taught; we ‘learn’ what we believe is nutrition through all the hype of advertisement. However, a lot of the processed foods are just the opposite of nutritious. There are so many additives in foods that interfere with your body’s natural ability to digest them properly, and many are completely stripped of any nutritional value. However, there are many that are full of nutrition; it’s knowing what to look for when you read the labels and about a balanced diet of proper nutrients. Good nutrition can help prevent disease and promote health. I blog about exercise and the six categories of nutrients that the body needs to acquire from food: protein, carbohydrates, fat, fibers, vitamins and minerals, and water. Yes, your body needs fat, it’s just knowing what kind of fats!
I started this blog to share what I’ve learned about nutrition, tips & tricks that I’ve used and believe in, and to try and support others with making choices that support a healthier lifestyle. I do not eat any less than I used to, but I eat the right foods and still exercise… and I am as thin as I was back in college, and more toned!! But more importantly, I feel great!!
I look forward to blogging with you and helping you with your goals for a healthier lifestyle.
